Here you find some scanned slides of our 6 weeks trip in 1999 by public transport from Moscow to Beijing. First by train from Moscow to Almati (Kazakhstan) A very special experience to be in a train for such a long time. From there crossing the Chinese border to Urumchi. This part of China is more Turkish/Islamic then Chinese. One of the most intruiging places we visited was Labrang/Xiage, a Tibetan Buddhist enclave in the northern part of China. Heading east from there you reach the "real" China. And ending in Beijing, the fast changing capital of China.
