1999 Silkroute, China
Travel < 2008
Here you find some scanned slides of our 6 weeks trip in 1999 by public transport from Moscow to Beijing. First by train from Moscow to Almati (Kazakhstan). A very special experience to be in a train for such a long time and to see the landscape gradually changing. From there we crossed the Chinese border to Urumchi. This part of China is more Turkish/Islamic then Chinese. One of the most intruiging places we visited was Labrang/Xiage, a Tibetan, Buddhist enclave in the northern part of China. Heading east from there we reached the China as we mostly know it. We ended our trip in Beijing, the fast changing capital of China.
